What Happens To Us When We Die?
Is the life we are leading all there is - or does something come after?

No-one really knows what happens when we die; or are there some who have at least glimpsed the door to an afterlife? There are stories of individuals who have "died" and are resuscitated. During the brief period in between there are claims of a strange awareness being witnessed. Maybe they saw a white light they imagined to be the doorway to the next stage after dying? Perhaps they had an out-of-body experience when they were standing in the same room as their body, looking on? Only those who visited this mystical transitional state can testify to something that might have indicated an existence beyond life itself.

What about the presence of ghosts: are they merely products of imagination, a personal need to re-invent someone who has passed over and has returned for an unknown reason; possibly to resolve unfinished business? There are, of course, sceptics who rubbish such suggestions. They insist when we die that's it - nothing more, no coming back, no life after death, just oblivion. If they are right, what would be the real purpose of life; what would be the sense of anyone living in the first place?
