Sell Up - Smarten Up
Think like a buyer and offer more than they expect
Selling anything is easy enough, as long as someone wants to buy what is on offer; but anything pre-owned will usually be showing signs of wear and tear. This is what a buyer will be looking for, especially if it is going to cost them to fix it up; and that's on top of the purchase price. So, the seller has to bear this in mind before they put whatever it is on the market.
There are ways to attract buyers with a bit of spit and polish, maybe a lick of paint and some detailing. The latter applies particularly to vehicles. It has to be remembered, though, that people are neither blind nor stupid, and a five-minute cover-up isn't going to fool anyone.
The bottom line is always going to be price, and it must be realistic. Trying to make too much over the top will likely turn away most interested parties; and trying to recoup everything spent on repairs and tarting up the item for sale needs careful consideration. Sometimes, to achieve a timely sale, it is better to absorb costs rather than trying to pass them on.
